A public rally organized by the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) began at Dhaka’s Central Shaheed Minar on Sunday under the banner “Manifesto for a New Bangladesh.” Although the event was scheduled to start at 4 PM, it commenced nearly an hour later.
The rally, conducted by senior joint convener Ariful Islam Adib, saw the presence of central party leaders including chief convener Nahid Islam, member secretary Akhter Hossain, northern region coordinator Sarjis Alam, and southern region coordinator Hasnat Abdullah.
Party supporters and activists from various parts of the country joined the gathering in processions. Families of those who were killed or injured in last year’s July uprising were also present at the venue.
The key highlight of the rally will be the formal announcement of NCP’s “Manifesto for a New Bangladesh,” to be delivered by party leader Nahid Islam.
Ahead of the rally, several party leaders said that the NCP intends to convey a new message to the nation from this platform.
They mentioned that the manifesto will outline priority areas needed to rebuild the country, with emphasis on restoring citizens` dignity and ensuring justice.
The document will also include demands for the implementation of the “July Charter” and the “July Declaration,” and call for swift justice against those accused of killings, including Sheikh Hasina.
According to NCP leaders, the party emerged in the wake of a mass uprising and seeks to present a blueprint for a reformed Bangladesh.
They indicated that today’s manifesto will lay out policy directions across key sectors such as education, healthcare, and national defense, proposing transformative changes aimed at rebuilding the nation.
